How to Delegate Authenticity to an LLM (hint: don't)

On February 3rd, From The Green Notebook (FTGN) posted an article entitled, Commander, Don’t Give Up Your Voice! This short article by Lieutenant Colonel James J. Torrence explored the difference between efficiency and efficacy, as it relates to AI usage. Yes, AI makes us more efficient and no, it is not going anywhere. But, the responsibility to communicate authentically is a wholly human endeavour that cannot fall squarely on the shoulders of Chat, Grok, or Claude.
What’s more, Soldiers will know when they are reading a blurb from AI versus something penned by the Commander. If, as a staffer, you’re inclined to use an LLM to capture the Commander’s voice, the author suggests feeding the chatbot real emails or speeches from whomever you are trying to emulate. In closing, I’ll share this excerpt:
War remains a human endeavor. Trust still underpins command. Words still shape culture, morale, and belief. If leaders allow their communications to collapse into AI-generated uniformity, they should not be surprised when people stop listening.
Don’t be lazy, folks. And, more importantly, don’t give up your voice!
What an important point! Seems that we are learning more and more that there are some things AI can’t replace.
What are some approaches we could take to mimic or create a voice that is similar to the commanders? The reason I ask this is because a few weeks back the official Army LinkedIn page stated “Let GENAI.MIL help you build your briefings” You say not to be lazy but what is the incentive to not ride the train? Just playing devils advocate. I have my methods but want to hear the communities.
