About Harding Project:
The Harding Project is a Chief of Staff of the Army initiative, created by General Randy George, to strengthen professional military discourse and the branch journals. If you haven’t seen it, checkout the Harding Project video here!
The cornerstones of Army professional writing are the Harding Fellowship (a Broadening Opportunity Program, or BOP) and the Line of Departure, a web-first, mobile friendly platform where all Army professional writing is consolidated for ease of search and access by the force.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary objectives for the Harding leadership team include managing the Harding Fellows, who are a team of exceptional Officers, NCOs, and Warrants located at Centers of Excellence across the Army Enterprise, and ensuring vibrant public discourse through the Line of Departure platforms.
Duties and responsibilities include:
· Maintain high quality Branch journals – support, train, and mentor Fellows as they solicit, edit, publish, and amplify articles written by members of their Branch.
· Manage Line of Departure platforms – ensure all Branch journal content reaches Army professionals through the Line of Departure website, newsletter, social media, podcasts, and other creative means of disseminating good ideas across the force.
· Engage with Senior Leaders –the Director and Deputy Director will engage directly with Army Senior Leaders across the COEs, at CAC, and on the Army Staff, to include the Chief of Staff of the Army, Sergeant Major of the Army, and the Chief Warrant Officer of the Army.
· Leadership – lead a team of over 30 stakeholders located at Centers of Excellence across the Army. Directly mentor Harding Fellows.
· Manage the Harding Project BOP – the structure, management, content, and execution of the BOP, to include coordinating between Centers of Excellence and HRC, are the responsibility of the Harding Leadership.
· Build a Professional Community – build relationships across the Army Enterprise with key influencers, both in uniform and out, involved in supporting or contributing to professional discourse.
Requirements
· Director is an O4/O5, branch immaterial. If MAJ, should be post-KD time. The position is for 2-4 years.
· Deputy Director is an E8/E9, branch immaterial. The position is for 2-4 years.
Location/travel
Both positions are located at the Combined Arms Center (CAC) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. They will conduct routine TDY to engage with the CSA and SMA teams at the Pentagon, to attend major conferences like the AUSA Annual Conference, and to engage with Fellows and Branch/COE leadership across the United States.
